We got a toddler by UPS today!

My little one is not so little anymore. He's just under 3 months and he's fitting into these 3-6 month overalls. He's such a big boy and he smiles all the time!

Mommy and Isaac got back from being in the hospital for three nights. Isaac had a temerature of 104 at the doctors office and we went straight to the emergency room at the children's hospital at OHSU (Oregon Health and Science University). He ended up having a UTI and he's all better now, and still taking antibiotics. Little baby went through so much pain with all the IV's and a blood and spinal test. He was on antibiotics from the moment we go to our room even though we didn't know what was wrong yet. We had three doctors on our case and 20 or more nurses and nurses assistants throughout the entire time we were there. They call it preventative treatment because they treat as many things as they can even though they don't know what it is. It was a pretty big scare. But Isaac will be fine and there is nothing we could have done to prevent it. Let's just hope it doesn't happen again. One of the nurses jokingly said to me as I was leaving "Don't come back now, ya hear?", I said "I hope I never see you again, but thank you."

The excitment of having mommy and Isaac home from the hospital wore her out. She fell asleep on her own with none of the normal coxing. She just left the room and when I went to look for her, sure that she was getting into something, I found her asleep like this.

Makaela holds her baby doll with a "carrier". She pretended to tend to her baby doll for a long time.

After a long day at the zoo, we make our way back to the car with Makaela sitting on top of the stroller.

Makaela and I went to one of the many water play areas here in Portland. This one has many streams of water shooting 20 feet into the air. She was too timid to go near it, but we enjoyed playing at the park with our friends. It's been so hot here.

I wanted to see how peacefull he looks when he sleeps on my shoulder. He falls asleep on me like this throughout the day as I busy myself with Makaela.

Makaela examines her "Dirt Baby" that she made at the Agricultural Festival down in Salem, OR a few weeks ago.

Isaac moves his hands at lightning speed.
Makaela asks to hold Isaac about 100 times a day. She's getting much better at it too.

These are the panties that will make or break you...

Put this pair of Batman underwear on and you'll be filled with absolute joy because if you don't, you're world could crumble.....The story behind this theory is a long one but here goes: Everytime Makaela's friends Ray-Ray and Jackie come over (18 months and 3), the three of them eventually end up taking a bubble bath together simply because their lives wouldn't be complete without it. Then, after the children run around naked for a little while (my potty training technique that totally works), we attempt to put their clothes back on without too much hassel. Ray-Ray may want to borrow Makaela's pink flowery shirt, and that is fine with his mommy and with me. And Makaela will inevitably want to borrow whatever pair of super-hero underpants that Ray-Ray has on that day, and sometimes he wears two pairs just for kicks. When Ray-Ray wears them he prefers to wear them backwards so that he can see the super-hero when he looks down. It really isn't any fun with the super-hero on the back where you can't see it. The last time he ended up with just his underpants on at our house he was feeling so joyful that he was inclined to run around our house in circles for about 15 minutes. Now, everytime we hang out, there comes a time when we start dropping hints to the children that it's going to be time to go home soon. This is usually the time at which the borrowing begins and many demanding "pleases" occur. On this evening, Makaela asked Ray-Ray if she could borrow his Batman underpants. He said yes and so did his mommy...but disater struck immediatly after the boys walked out the door and Makaela wanted to forgo bedtime, rip off her pj's and put the Batman panties on. Well the temper-tantrum that followed when we wouldn't allow this (at 9:00 pm) was a long one. And Sean and I both felt that it was the biggest temper-tantrum that we had ever seen from her. She finally calmed down and went to bed, but the very first thing that she mentioned when she woke up the next morning was those blessed Batman panties. And she wore them all day, backwards.
