Isaac plays while laying in our changing table. He hangs out here quite a bit so that Makaela has a less likely chance of falling on him because of her wobbly toddler legs.

Our little bean

When Makaela saw me place this beer on the coffee table she headed for a drawer in the kitchen in search of a tool to open it with. After several minutes she came back with the nut cracker and tried for quite a while to take the cap off. When fed up with trying she pretended that it was open and gave it to me and said "Here [you] go". I love this face of hers of concentration.

Makaela does tummy time with Isaac. They lay on the beautiful blanket that Karen Hee made for baby Isaac. Thank you so much Karen!

No, no, no Mama. Talk to the hand, cause the ears aren't listening.

Makaela paints easter eggs. She absolutely loves this so much! She's such a little artist.

Sleeping, again.

Makaela plays with warm water and bubbles in the kitchen sink. It's an activity that I think teaches her about the physics of water, while making a watery mess on the kitchen floor. But best of all, she's occupied for quite a while so that I can do some stuff around the house.

Makaela plays with the vase of flowers Sean gave me at the hospital after the birth of little Isaac. A week and a half later they're looking very wilted, but they are a nice reminder of our new addition.

Taking a walk in front of our apartment. It's a beautiful day, the rain is gone and the mist has cleared for a little while.

Baby Isaac is finally here! Born on March 8th, 2007 at 12:42 am.

THE RUN DOWN: Labor began at around 10:00 pm on March 7th and within an hour and a half, my contractions were 3 minutes apart and getting stronger. At this point Sean and I realized this was it, and we called our friends to come pick Makaela up for a sleep over at their house. Thank you so much Corry and Adrian! We got to the hospital around midnight at which point the midwives checked my dialation and told me I was fully dialated and that it was time to push. When I asked about having a water birth, one midwife said "Honey, by the time we get the tub filled, you'll have a baby in your arms". I was happy about the speed of the labor but sad that I wouldn't be able to experience the water birth. Isaac came out in 5 or 6 pushes, and Sean got to "catch" him on his way out. He was born at 12:42 am on March 8th. Isaac weighed 7 pounds and 6 ounces at birth, and scored 9 on the apgar scale. He is precious, of course, and we are now a happy and complete family of four. I'm grateful for a short labor and a healthy baby boy.

As soon as baby Isaac popped out, the midwives handed him to Sean, and Sean handed him to me.

Here Isaac nuzzles on my chest just a few minutes after birth.
